Scott has deep roots in St. Johnsbury and has a strong appreciation for the Maple Industry and St. Johnsbury's status as the Maple Center of the world.

In 2021 the St. Johnsbury Chamber of Commerce became involved in efforts to keep the Festival alive during the Covid pandemic.
